Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician. Born on the 20th of October 1964, she is the 49th Vice-President of the United States. She is also the first female vice-president as well as the highest-ranking female official in the United America. A part of the Democratic Party, she previously served as attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017 and was the state's attorney general from 2011 to 2017 and as a United States senator representing California from 2017 until 2021. Harris was born in Oakland and attended Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Her professional career started with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later promoted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. Harris was elected Attorney general of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she won re-election. Harris served as the junior United States senator from California from 2017 until 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the second African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to be senator in the United States Senate. She was a senator , and campaigned for reforms to healthcare, federal cannabis de-scheduling, a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrant immigrants, the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons and progressive tax reform. She is most famous for her direct questions to Trump administration officials in Senate hearings.
